Holidays to Madagascar
Anjajavy is located on a remote and enchanted peninsula on the northwest coast of Madagascar. The Relais & Chateaux Anjajavy L’Hôtel awaits your discovery and is approximately 90 minutes flight from Antananarivo airport, or 75 minutes from Nosy Be airport. Set along a sandy beach beside azure waters and encircled by a fabulous forest reserve, Anjajavy is home to many animal species such as the famous Sifaka lemur, the bird of paradise, chameleon and Cuvier’s oplure (a type of iguana) and reflects the rich diversity and untouched beauty of Madagascar and the natural warm hospitality of its people. In addition, the 1100 acre nature reserve alongside the hotel has over 1800 floral species, most of which are endemic to the country along with many medicinal plants.
Set along the Mozambique Channel, Anjajavy L’Hôtel comprises an outstanding complex of 25 rosewood villas facing the sea. Each villa features a large terrace overlooking the sea, a living room area with French windows opening onto a large sea-facing verandah, furnished with armchairs and a hammock from which you can watch the lemurs in the trees or the fishing pirogues on the ocean, a breakfast area and a bedroom. A small staircase provides access to the first floor which features a relaxation room that can be used as either a children’s or guest room. All rooms are air-conditioned with tea and coffee facilities, telephone and bath/shower.
A la carte meals consisting of French cuisine, influenced by the flavours of Madagascar and featuring local fish and seafood, are served in the restaurant overlooking the ocean, or on the terrace. Drinks are served from the terrace or at the pool and a television is located at the bar.
Facilities include a large swimming pool and sun deck, an aqua gym, cave and village visits, a boutique and massage. Excursions to Moromba Bay, sunset cruises, big game, popper and fly fishing are also available together with The Oasis – a genuine Garden of Eden and verdant sanctuary of endemic flora that is visited by Anjajavy’s birds and lemurs. Complimentary watersports include water skiing, catamarans, wind surfing, canoeing and snorkelling. Other facilities include billiards, tennis, volleyball and mountain bikes. Wildlife, birding and night walks are a highlight of a stay at Anjajavy, as is the recently discovered Alley of Baobabs.
NOTE: There is no access road to Anjajavy. Anjajavy lies in the heart of the Menabe Sakalava territory and there are only barely signposted paths through the bush and forest. As mentioned above, Anjajavy can be accessed by plane from Antananarivo or Nosy Be. After a flight offering magnificent low altitude vistas of all the scenery offered by the Ile rouge, you will land on a private runway on the Anjajavy peninsula. An extraordinary change of scenery is guaranteed as soon as you take off!
