Lamai Serengeti - 3 day Fly-in
Lamai Serengeti Camp
Nomad Lamai Camp is located in the extreme North of the Serengeti in Northern Tanzania. This is a small intimate safari lodge located amongst the large round boulders of the Kogakurjia Kopjes of the Northern Serengeti. This stunning spot, with huge views of the Serengeti towards the Mara River, is best known for the epic river crossings by the migrating wildebeest herds that take place here between July and October. It’s less known for the superb resident game that remains for the rest of the year after the migration has left. Either fly to Kogatende airstrip, from where the camp is in easy reach, or alternatively drive if when guests had stayed the previous night somewhere in the Central Serengeti, Lobo or Loliondo.
Opened in 2011, this beautiful camp is situated on a beautiful kopje and has outstanding views over the surrounding landscape. Elegant public areas include a nice swimming pool. There are seven rooms in the main camp, one of which is a family unit. An annexe to one side functions as a separate camp and contains a further 4 rooms. July to October is the best part of the Serengeti for viewing the migration. At other times of year this is a real hidden paradise, with solid resident game.
The lodge, which has a total of just 12 rooms, is divided into two entirely separate lodges - the Main Camp and the smaller Lamai Private Camp. The Main Lodge is 8 rooms and the smaller Private Lodge is only 4 rooms. The Private Camp is one of the best places to stay as a family or a group of friends. At the front, a deck allows great game view with binoculars and splendid sundowners. Inside, all rooms are spacious and beautifully designed with en-suite bathrooms which include 2 aged metal sinks, set in a stone base, a mirror above and plenty of space to hang clothes. Each room has been carefully thought out to take maximum advantage of the view, the sun, the wind and even the rain. The camp blends perfectly with the surroundings and is almost invisible from the outside to the casual eye.
